Samsudeen's Residence

This two-storied single-family home is located in Kaja Nagar, Trichy. The site is unique with its plot alignment and proximity to the Collector's Bungalow, facing one-third of its site with massive greenery towards the south. This made it essential to avoid the building from the busy road on the southern side. On one hand, it was essential to connect the building with the fine-looking greenery, the vivid sky and sunset, and the micro-climatic southwesterly wind. On the other hand, it was vital to filter the harsh western afternoon sun. The awning veranda and cantilevered slabs provide shade from the waning afternoon sun while also creating a louvered pattern of shadows and darkness over the facade.
